Helen Mirren Wants Doctor Who Role

Dame Helen Mirren has been speaking to the Daily Star. But that’s not the only shocking piece of news. No, apparently the award-winning actress wants to star in Doctor Who as the first female Doctor.

The Stars quotes Mirren as saying: “I would like to play the new female Doctor Who. I don’t want to just be his sidekick.”

I hope she actually said this.

Every time I read this when it comes up on my dash I think the same thing:

As much as I love Helen Mirren, I can’t see it.

I’d love a female Doctor.

Preferably one that runs all over the place and jumps off of things and is silly and such.

Though casting a 66 year old Helen Mirren would kinda be getting back to the roots of old Doctors from way back in the day…Though even Hartnell was only 50-something…

With the way Moffat is taking this show…there’s no way they cast Mirren as the next Doctor. 

Guest star? No doubt a possibility. Companion? eh. Maybe. Doctor? No.
